Third Movement • Novel
The Meanders of Oblivion
A man is found alive after a shipwreck. He no longer knows who he is.
Rescued after a shipwreck, then brought to Sète, the man no longer knows who he is. His memory yields only scattered fragments — faces, places, sensations — whose meaning still eludes him.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, a police investigation makes headway. Drugs, weapons, trafficking across Colombia, the Sahel, the Rif, and Europe: leads branch out, characters intersect, and borders blur. And Salim continues his search for Rayan.
Two investigations. Two trajectories. A truth advancing in the shadows. Until the moment everything finally converges.

When memory becomes an investigation
The Meanders of Oblivion starts from a simple question: what remains of a man when his memory disappears?
Yet very quickly, this intimate question meets another reality: that of an investigation that crosses borders, trafficking, and networks whose ramifications far exceed those who attempt to comprehend them.
The novel thus moves forward along two lines that seem at first distant. One seeks to reconstruct an identity. The other seeks to bring a truth to light. Little by little, they draw closer.
At the heart of this mechanism, however, remains the same question as in the previous two novels: what do we pass on of ourselves, voluntarily or not, to those who follow us?
The Writer’s Workshop
Behind the scenes of the novel
After two novels deeply rooted in intimacy, filiation, and the quest for meaning, I wanted to change register. This time, I wanted to give greater freedom to the imagination, step into the thriller, build an investigation, and quite simply, enjoy writing.
Yet this pleasure was to lead me into one of my greatest writing journeys.
